Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
A mountainous, rough region that verges on the Sea of Swords, the Sword Coast extends south from the famous city of Waterdeep all the way to Athkatla, the capital of Amn. No chief authority or monarch rules over it all, but what governance does bind this loose collection of towns and outposts comes from Baldur’s Gate. Between the city and the Cloud Peak mountains that form the border with Amn there are several safe havens from the generally wild and dangerous countryside – the Friendly Arms Inn, the towns of Beregost and Nashkel, and the academic fortress of Candlekeep. The major forests, the Cloak Wood and the Wood of Sharp Teeth are frequented by bandits and wildlife, and the forbidding facade of Durlag’s Tower lurks to the far south of the region.
